Bad Entry

Posted by freebird at 03:33 PM on January 19, 2006.

Its gonna be 20 days into the new year soon. Before it becomes 20 days without a new blog entry, I'd better write something here. But damn! I really really didn't want to start a New Year Entry with morbid details and the sad sad story of my life. humph.

let's start with the happy things first, and that'll be~ we got Gold for Scrabble! all i did was sit at the sidelines and scream "What's the spread? (translate: by how many points did we thrash them?) and yep, i'll be getting a gold medal to hang by my wardrobe. we beat EVERYBODY.

for boggle, we beat everybody... until the last two matches of the prelims when our star player MIA. following which we lost one match and got our arses hauled out of the quarter finals by a difference of 2 points. (1 point to tie) bweh.

yay~ here ends the happy news. of coz all that happened only in the first week of school. so what happened after that? why was i too busy to even come by my blog? i'm sure you don't want to know. i mean, its sad, its morbid, of course u wouldn't want to know right? of course you don't want to know why my msn nick is currently 'pissed'

well, first off, i can't type 'space' on my laptop coz surprise surprise, the keyboard got stuck again for the consecutive 3rd week. so i can't type a longer two-worded nick. plus, somehow, not only is the keyboard stuck, the harddisk is crashing, my programs can't run, and i can't do anything remotely intelligible on it. i should be looking into buying a new computer now.

except the fact that i'm so broke i'm skipping breakfast, eating my breakfast bread ($1 from NTUC) for lunch, and i don't know what i'm gonna do for dinner.

what happened? ah~ of course you don't want to know~ but i'll still put it here anyway~ (and the self-ridiculement commences)

that special project i took part in? we're holding a charity concert next week, and we're all forced to sell tickets or absorb the bloody cost. the tickets are $15 each. so i have to bloody fork out $45 and try to sell tickets to a concert that is held during the busy busy CNY period.

then on tuesday i had the full day free. so in the morning i was just thinking about how i shall be productive and study for once when my boss called me up and said 'hey, xueqi, we need you to distribute flyers for us, can? to ACJC, RJC and Explanade, they're all around the same area la, buona vista there. you free?'

hell, i knew for sure Esplanade is no where near buona, but its just a few more stops away, no problem right? i had no idea where ACJC and RJC were, but i'm sure they knew what they were saying at least right? they can't be idiotic enough to send me somewhere on three different parts of singapore. so being ever trusting, and concentrating on my work, i said sure, when? 3pm~

and at 3 i went there, got asked to help do some misc stuff, den i got handed the flyers, and instructed it was 'urgent' and to give them out by 'today'. *4 letter expletive* it was almost 4 pm, and i had a meeting in school at 7.

so i upped and flew, and... the bus uncle asked me to alight one stop before ACJC (Dover), so i had to walk 3 corners of a secondary school in the rain to reach there. i waited 10min for the bus to the mrt, to realize the mrt (Buona Vista) is just 1 turn away. den i got off at Braddell as recommended by Streetdirectory, only to realize RJC is within walking distance from Bishan. When i finished exploring the entire Esplanade and quizzing the security guards for directions it was close to 8 (i postponed the meeting to 8) and i hopped on a cab back to school. $26 gone in transportation.

and adding to it the event t-shirt, and telephone bill for calling up companies, that'll be $100 down the drain for one single special project in one single month. i know i brought it upon myself. i know its got to be expected somehow. but i just can't stop myself from whining about it, sorry.

so basically, lots happened. there's still more, but i'm chionging out publication articles now so, maybe in another 19 days ba. heh.

yep, things are looking up! my keyboard is working all of a sudden, so here i am! (revelling in the joy of typing in the luxury of my room)

yesterday was the end of one chapter in the special project; it was the external event. if ya happen to walk past Bugis, you would notice a bunch of people trying to ask you to donate. basically you buy a tulip of hope for $2, den donate that tulip to a giant sculpture which would be in turn be given to KK Hospital.

the programmers did a great  job. the goodie bags flew off the table. smoking people are more likely to donate.

and a study of the population at bugis concludes that there are three types of people. there are nice people. there are very nice people. then there's those who are mentally retarded in the aspect of ettiquette. well, nice people are people who avoid eye contact, subtly walk away in another direction, smile and run off, and the best of them, people who politely shakes their heads or say 'sorry.' the very nice people are those that politely rummage for change, stops to listen, and there are some that taps you from behind and pops a few coins into your can. well, the last group of people are an unpleasant bunch. they bump past you, scream 'NO!' or 'BUYAO!' in your face like a freaking banshee. there was one who walked towards me, saw me, gave a murderous look and turned tail. i think she went to find another exit. i really felt like stuffing a tulip up her nose, except that it'll be too degrading to the tulip. like, puh-leeze.

sigh! anyway, still broke. but i'd been on a lucky streak so far? found ten dollars in my jeans, which more than doubled my current cash account. managed to get a few free meals since the taxi - got treated, got invited to a reception, got some leftover lunchboxes from events, got paid for by club funds, got treated again... and i got a few lists for my scrabble game last night, couldn't throw most of them as the board was too tight, but it still felt good.

sidenote: lists means 6 letter words that can let you bingo with most other letters. eg. SATIRE - ARISTAe, bAITERS, RAcIEST, TIRAdES, AERIeST, fAIREST, STAgIER, hASTIER, AIRiEST...

ok, back to work now; two tutorials and 3 project meetings to prepare for tmr. happy new year...

yay~ we won~ actually, its only the semis, but woohooo~ woot! woot! woot!

not much of a big deal la, actually. *shrug* i was playing doubles, and we played the non-players, so basically we 'toc' them till even i started feeling sorry for them... plus i had a lucky streak today... words like 'GUV' got me a 27 point (there was like no where to put it, den the chance just presented itself on a platter), 'LAX' 37 points... den i got 2 bingoes, HEAR*EN and SH*NERS.

no time to write much, moving back home for the new year... yay~ yay~ yay~
