whoa, to say i haven't been back for a while.. is an understatement. i wasn't busy studying. to be honest i have no idea wat i was so busy about - although i have a very sketchy impression of career talks, project meetings, birthday celebrations, family excursions, neopets, tests, late late nights and hot hot temperatures.

i had a lot of projects due all right? most of the deadlines are pretty far away, but they are such that if you slack off a bit, you will be in for a lot of hell later on. so its all projects, projects, projects.

Financial Modelling Project Assignment #1 was just wrapped up 2 hours ago. finally. and now we're all ready to start on a new slate with Financial Modelling Project Assignment #2. yay -__-

and there's the wealth management project. the IT systems analysis report. resumes to submit. jobs to apply for. Final Year Projects to do.

and weirdly enough, sitting very comfortably atop all these commitments, is a deep-etched itching to play neopets and pacman on facebook.

for those who had the mid-sem holidays pass you by before you'd realized... one week of holidays just passed. in actuality it was just alternate days of preparing for project meetings and project meetings. and i'm proud to say i've had it easy compared to the majority of my peers. i spent more time being productive than i ever did in an entire school week, and i haven't even scratched the surface of my textbooks. i forsee a forlorn and horrible exam this november.

enough with the morbid news, good news! you can play pacman on facebook, and i found kimi ni todoke manga in singapore at last!

and i can sleep early tonight~~~~!!!!

Facebook

Posted by freebird at 12:59 AM on October 10, 2007.

lately, it seems like my hours had been flittering away into nothingness.

neopets ate up a humongous amount of my time. i'd actually pretty much stopped/given up playing it after realizing that my uni friends are actually multi-millionaires in the game, while i'm still 200k short of my first million.

yea, i suck. 5 year veteran and i'm still broke.

and just when i'm starting to free up my time to do some 'real' studying between the =frequent= manga-reading, facebook came around.

i wasn't so hooked onto facebook until i discovered the pacman application. to be honest, i'd never played pacman when i was young. i was an IT phobic kid, smoke comes out of the heavy bulky computers when i touch them. computers are scared of me.

so i latched on to this long-lost game like an octopus to a sushi plate. after the failure with neopets, i decided to try to excel at just one thing at least, and fought long and hard to get my current score of 40k.

and then i found this application called fight club. it was something like the vampires, zombies, werewolves, pirates bleah applications floating around, just that the graphics were way better. and instead of killing your friends, you go out there to massacre the 10000s of facebook members out there, while your frenz were your loyal gangmembers.

basically everyday you log on to train your fighter and increase his stats. then you go out there and fight ONE loserly-looking person. the first fight each day enters your public record. any other fights you pick for the day adds up to qualify you for medals and extra training slots.

you'll realize the art of challenging players is real-ly profound.

and lastly, battle ship!!! its fun!!! its like a rpg, where you play a ship captain (i'm a pirate capt), and go around exploring the world, amassing gold, and fighting other ships.

you get a certain number of Action points per hour, and you can use these points to either explore, trade, fight or travel.

if your ship gets sunk, you'll need 10AP to salvage it.

so basically, today i happily went off to my project meeting to realize me ship's been - SUNK! by 3 evil people! the first attacked me at full health, and depleted me a little, the second attacked my damaged ship and failed to sink me... and the third happily came along and sent me to the bottom of the sea. grrrrrr~

and this keeps happening> wait 2 hours for AP to regen. salvage ship. explore. no AP. logs off, and comes back to see ship is sunk again.

at this rate i'm never gonna have enough AP to earn gold for upgrades! *sob*

nice day

Posted by freebird at 12:00 AM on October 14, 2007.

its a nice fluffy day today~ and, selamat hari raya~!

woke up early in the morning to go to MacDonald's for breakfast. the waffles were especially fluffy today. I guess they opened a new packet of flour coz of expected high traffic? and true enough, later on in the morning a whole flock of malays came in from after their morning prayers. yay~

den we went off to Giant Tampines to shop for dinner and~ found this pack of huge half-shelled scallops at $9.90! so we had cheese-baked scallops for dinner. it was great~ finely chopped cheese, melted butter, milky sauce, huge chewy scallops... darn i'm feeling hungry again.

and the news reported that its been 100% confirmed that chocolates are good for =beeeeep (zones out)= reason, so we went on a semi-justified choco feast after dinner. (^._.^)

and in the afternoon my dad needed the comp, so i went off to take an afternoon nap since i'd decided that i'm gonna leave my weekends free~ yep~ free weekends~

i've come to a revelation that i'm just not productive at home. and its too much of a waste to do work on a weekend. and i'll feel so much better if i just made it official, instead of feeling guilty about having my weekend workload pile up coz i'm busy lying on bed staring at the beautiful cracks in the ceiling.

so~ yep~ i happily slept my afternoon away. and i went for an evening jog before dinner to make myself feel better. and yeah, dinner was scallops and asam fish. *hearts mother*

and its saturday, so i got 100 free APs for Battle Station and i happily travelled elsewhere to spend them. hohoho. life is good.

my tutor pon class

Posted by freebird at 03:39 PM on October 16, 2007.

recently, my project meetings had been falling on tuesdays, and since i'm such a last-minute type of person, i often end up preparing for the meeting until 3am in the morning, and opting to skip my tuesday morning class.

i'm presenting my project case next week, so i decided to skip being lazy, and drag my ass to class at 8.30am in the morning in case he had any comments for our group next week.

i decided that since i was being a good girl today, i might as well be good all the way, and didn't stop by for breakfast or free newspapers so i may be earlier to class.

the tutor was late (as usual). as half the class was late/missing we thought it might just be the traffic conditions. the presenting group was happy they had more time for preparation, while my group was glad we could pass out survey forms to the rest of the class.

half an hour later the class representative arrived, and we tried calling the tutor's cell to no avail.

one hour later, we called the general office and cancelled our class. when the caller announced this dejectedly, shrieks rang out in the class: "i came from tampines~" "this is my only lesson~" and i wailed "sleep~"

but nah, i enjoyed wasting time, especially when there's valid reason for it.

now i have no idea when my presentation is rescheduled to be.

updating status

mew~ exam starts 15th November! as usual, i'd not started mugging yet. but lately i'd been busy doing last-minute applications to jobs. very last minute. i submitted one of the applications online with only 2 minutes to spare, forced to neglect all grammatical errors in the lack of time.

sheesh, now i realize just how far my english proficiency has fallen, especially the grammatical component. half the time i'm asking myself 'is this 'will' or 'would'? 'can' or 'could'?' hopefully the HR manager's english sux too.

and i'd gone to the clinic in school for my flu. the doc's advice was 'not to talk to anyone'. for the people who managed to meet me for the past few days, and heard my weird raspy voice, sorry. i hope you don't get infected. my bf's down for the count already (sorry~)

well, there's a bug running around so it might not be me, hohoho.

oh well, being a human bio weapon is cool. i'll try to study after next next week~!

clock tower

Posted by freebird at 04:02 AM on October 25, 2007.

hee. i'd always wondered what it was like inside the clock tower above my room. i just got a peek. a very brief and timid peek.

to put things into context, its 3.50am now. i went to sleep happily about 1 hour 50 min ago. and i was rudely awakened by a loud annoying alarm which pierces right through into the brain.

it was horrible. like a speaker that was spoilt and picking up disonance, it went on and on and on, and when i tried to phase out the sound mentally, it started sounding really weird to me. so i couldn't sleep.

yy went out to investigate, and reported back that the water tank seems to have something wrong, and there's a strong steady stream of water gushing out from above us. the grass below was drowned.

the alarm went on for half an hour. when it stopped, i couldn't go straight back to sleep coz i was CURIOUS. *grin*

the water was gushing out from a hose poking out from a vent in the clock tower. i'd never noticed the vent nor the hose before. and light was filtering out from the vent. the hatch into the clock tower (attic?) was open, and technicians were inside the attic, or standing on the ladder to the attic, exchanging words.

so i scurried up to the seventh floor, and yay~ the ladder was clear of people~ peering up, the mysterious attic behind the clock... was really plain. nothing like the dusty dark place i had imagined. a lot of metal boxes and containers, and i guess the water tank supplying the entire hall was there.

i din dare to climb the ladder in case i incurred the wrath of the busy technicians, although i really really wanted to. although plain, the huge area seemed really grand and attractive.

i'm a wuss.

maybe i just like unknown places with tall roofs.

Lost and Found

Posted by freebird at 08:57 AM on October 27, 2007.

For the second time this semester, i lost my handphone at the FAL. We were having a project meeting, and changing from one table to a wider one. Basically I left the phone hanging around =somewhere=. And midway through the project work, I suddenly realized the phone was missing.

Project meeting halt! And we searched around the entire FAL for the phone, to no avail, sending missed calls and listening out for vibrations. i thrashed the toilet bin for sim cards. i checked all over the floor for kicked around phones.

After the meeting, we went on to the general office, which had knocked off already. So we tried spamming missed calls once again to listen out for 'brrrrrr brrrrrr's coming from drawers behind the glass wall.

Failing which, we went off to the campus security to report the loss.

And I came back to hall, mourning the loss of another handphone and the scolding that was to follow to fellow MSN-ers when suddenly the rec sec gerard dropped by and said 'hey, your hp's with me'.

i went 'huh'.

Some kind soul in the FAL spotted my hp and immediately took it and called the last dialed, gerard. then he got a friend to collect the hp on his behalf.

i suspect it was only then that i realized i lost my hp and started searching lol. and his friend didn't dare to answer the missed calls as she was afraid to invade my privacy.

when i received my hp again, there were 17 loving missed calls. thanks everyone~~!!!

Ethics Exam

Posted by freebird at 06:29 PM on October 27, 2007.

as of this semester, it became mandatory to take and pass an ethics test by CFA. so today we went for a 3 hour lecture by a speaker from CFA, and after an hour break, took the exam. it was damn hard. sheesh. confirm two questions wrong already. i guess i don't have much of an ethical concept after all.

the exam was an hour long 23 qn MCQ paper, held in the lecture theatre. the tutor was very happy- he said it was seldom that the entire banking and finance school ever get to get together. it was a happy day, he said.

maybe due to the openness and suddeness of the exam, it didn't feel like one. more like a quiz; and you know what we do in quizzes - its not a very serious atmosphere.

first we had to fill in the OTS sheet. the tutor reminded us all to write our names on the sheet as the school edventure site does not recognise matric numbers for security reasons.

"where?" we chorused when he said that.

and he solemnly pointed to the preview screen where the words 'YOUR NAME!!!' were printed in bold where the letterhead normally was. it merged so well into the template no one saw it. "without the exclamation marks," he added.

and so we happily went about the exam... and he drew up an hourglass screen counting down the minutes.

15 minutes into the exam, a weird whimper broke the silence, and gradually escalated to a screech. a very hilarious ringtone by some joker in the back. everyone were stunned to silence by the weird noise, before the entire LT burst out into laughter. i couldn't stop shaking from containing my laughter for the next two questions.

and around half an hour into the exam, the tutor was strolling around... when there was a loud 'DING' and the screen threatened to shut down in  5 seconds. the tutor tore down the steps, and reached the laptop just after the timer hit 0. the hourglass program shut down, and the whole LT went 'orhh.' and the powerpoint tried to shut down, and the entire LT went 'ah-' but the tutor managed to cancel in time. and the hourglass went up again, and i started doodling.

10 minutes left! and suddenly a huge booming voice reverberated across the LT: ten~ minutes~ left~ we roared with laughter again as the tutor went and turned down the volume.

sigh, hard exam. but funny like hell.
