eugoogoolying

Posted by freebird at 02:05 AM on February 21, 2008.

i wunder wat eugoogooly actually means lolz~

8 scrabble medals to date. its a nice number; we only missed the ISRG medal last year... but i was pretty glad i was able to play against my dear captain and have an honorable death befitting of a defending champion at least *sob sob*

but most importantly, i got to know derrick at the ISRG last year~! we were two lost lambs in an incomplete team, thrown to the wolves by our school's sports secs, and we collaborated and plotted and contrived and finally got the ISRG medal back into NBS's hands this year! nah, not really. we're just good, mwahaha.

this year's ISRG was quite different in that there were a lot of walkovers.

and that each school had two representative teams comprising of ONE double pair, and each team would fight their individual ways up the battle system to the top. derrick and i were one pair~ while ivy teamed up with yancy

the scariest match was the first, against SBS. the opponents were really quite strong, and we very nearly lost. i felt quite sorry for them, because if they hadn't met us, they would have had a very good chance of advancing all the way to the very top as well.

after that, our second opponent walked over... and we just hopped into the quarters to face off against CEE. and then it was the semis to fight MAE, and the finals to fight.... ivy and yancy lolz. the finals was NBS vs. NBS.

and ivy had to go off to support her soccer team and study for her quiz, so derrick and i won by default. which was how NBS ended up getting the first and second place for the Scrabble ISRG. (-____-)

good job everyone~~~ thanks derrick~ i enjoyed playing doubles with u, and i'm sorry i couldn't catch half of your signals... lolz. you're the best! especially when u bingo-ed out with resited~~~!!!

its a pity we couldn't play more, and after playing this match, i realize i really miss having competitions. the adrenaline rush, the zing in the air, the intellectual high... well~ i might want to come back for IG next year too hohoho.

oh yar, we won the international games for Scrabble as well. this time around we pulled Zhixun back to join in the fun (he's graduated for 2 years already). and even with this we very nearly lost to Indonesia in the finals. all i can say is, we were very lucky with our line-up, hohoho.
sorry hansel, herry and andre~~~

and what else happened in the one month i'd been gone except for scrabble? chinese new year of course!

this year, i went back to M'sia for the cny for 1 week as my the holiday fell on my only two schooldays of the week, hence leaving my entire week free. it's been 3 years since i'd last seen my grandma, relatives and Kedah... and even after so long nothing seems to have changed, haha.

but the cousins had all grown up now, and are in colleges, universities... some are even hugging babies that i'd never met before. one of them is really cute... little bishounen in the making, hohoho. i'm looking forward to see how he'll grow up to be in ten year's time. (^._.^)

as usual, i was mosquito fodder there, with around 10 bites a day. but the mosquitoes there seem... kinder in that the bite marks disappear overnight. its so much better to have a consistent number of marks, then an ever-expanding number i think.

and the highlight of the whole trip was~ i hugged a fighting cock~! it was really big! its neck extends to 20cm, its legs were at least 20cm long at least too... it was about 3/4 of my height when i squat down, which means it could very well peck my eyes out if i weren't wearing specs. i was actually quite scared when i first saw it, but the malay guy saw i was interested in it, and hugged it up for me. *happy*

and i also learned how to play 3-legged mahjong. its a really strategic game, much harder than the normal 4-legged one, coz in this version, there are joker tiles, the minimum fan is 5, and the person who threw out the winning tile pays for all. so one would have to permutate, form combinations, while at the same time trying not to throw tiles haphazardly. phew.

oh, and i got bitten by the dog. it was just a light graze though; when i tried to pick up the biscuit for it it thought i was fighting with it for food. (grrr, the dog bites lu dong bin) i had wanted to ignore it for the whole vacation, but... i just have a weakness for anything with fur on it, haha.

and i'm now hooked on noggin on facebook. its a boggle game, where u play with the rest of the bored people on facebook... and there really are quite a few every minute of the day. and occassionally, you see some familiar names of scrabble masters in the leadership board and you can pit your skills against them. i've always lost horribly though.

so now, facebook!!! i was supposed to be doing an essay for friday, but the deadline was extended and new requirements were thrown in, so i kind of can't be bothered now. (-___-)

deathnote spinoffs

we did not watch the movie L:change the world. we met up happily and hastily (i was the only hasty one actually, the rest were 'singing a happy song' while waiting for me to turn up with the ticke... the what?) and had a great dinner catching up with each other, and somehow there was this big 2 hour blank in between.

i can just vaguely remember that my skin crawled, i cringed, and my arms felt itchy so i must have very strongly wanted to punch someone in the face, and the veins popping up above my head must had meant that i had felt very very severely insulted by someone. or something. was it that my intelligence had been insulted? or something sacred of mine? i can't recall. hmmmz.

(-_____-)

its been a busy day. the first half of the day was spent queueing up for tickets at the NATAS travel fair. the website said it was supposed to start at 10am. we reached at 10.45, started queueing up... and from then to 11.30am the queue was moving at an average of 1cm/min. and then i realized that that was only because people gave up queueing and left. we managed to squeeze in after the counters officially opened, and there we went on a brochure-nabbing frenzy. even now, i'm still torn between a grad trip to aussie or japan.

i'm more for aussie actually. except for the fact that it'll really run above budget. (-___-)
