hisashiburi~

Posted by freebird at 11:05 PM on July 21, 2008.

whoa its been a long time since i last logged on to tabulas... the whole format and editing template's changed! i have no excuses. none at all. i can't say that i'm too busy coz i'd been reading manga all day long and i can't say i'm too tired coz i'd been snoozing around the house, i guess its just that too much's happened and i'm too sian to say anything. so here's everything, there's a lot, so bear with me!

Jobs and Employment News nyan

i got a job~ nyahaha. i'm starting work on the 28th july, so i've 1 more week to go! the working hours are sweet, from 10am to 7pm, and the workplace's a 1/2 hr journey from my house. i'm to do boring monotonous work with figures and i have to look at two computer screens everyday. my seniors are all angmohs or abcs. almost half the new recruits are from my batch of nbs students. my fren has started work there last week and he loves the environment coz of the people and culture. so i guess my future looks monotonous and grayscale but bright and fun?

at the same time i was offered the above position i was gunning for this pretty prestigious firm with a small team and challenging job-scope. i was really trying hard for it, and the job agency was very helpful and met up with me multiple times to prepare me for the questions and tests. reasons i really wanted that job was due to its relevance to hedge fund management, travel opportunities to the mysterious bermuda, and that ultra cute senior who would be working with me. there, i said it. that senior was really cute, kyaaa! i want eye-candy everyday...! o(>_<)o

=>i got rejected for the post though, boo hooo hooo.<=

on another note, amidst all the job interviews and so on i lost my a level cert. presumably when i was running around with my cheap plastic file or photocopying at the library. my mother doesn't know yet and i hope she doesn't find out before i put in an order with MOE. sighz.

Hand-me-downz story

i got another spat of hand-me-downs from my ever-generous cousins. ironically the hand-me-downs fit me better than the cheap dowdy blouses that i bought. i guess its time i learnt to up my budget and buy better clothes. but for now, i have enough work clothes in my wardrobe for another year fu fu fu.

surprisingly enough, another huge order hand-me-down i got my hands on was... a double-decker bed! its always been my dream to sleep on top but the such beds had always been expensive and i din have a sibling to sleep below me. so i was pretty happy. my parents and i spent 3 hours putting it together without the instruction manual (i think we're pretty smart). but when it was completed we realized there's scarcely 70cm from the top to the ceiling and my parents refused to let me sleep on the top bunk in case i hit my head. so now i'm sleeping on my old mattress under the bed, and it feels like i'm in a small wooden hut in my small bedroom. oh, and the room's arrangements aren't really adapted to the bed yet, so my room looks pretty weird, with an outcropping in the middle of no where and shadowy corners where there should be light. i like it this way though, i find it very unorthodox and xueqi-like. (^._.^)

very sadly, my parents are trying to revamp my room to their more orthodox (actually not really) likings. such as shoving the bed into corners and throwing away the wardrobe and turning the bed upside-down on its head so we may use the 70cm of space as storage. i say 'bweh'. that's such a waste of double decker bed!

Back to Sch hoho

well, actually i'm convo-ing tomorrow at freaking 10am in the morning. that's a pretty ok time, you say, but we have to be there by 9am to robe up and find our seats and take attendance, and we have to be seated neatly by 9.10am. like hell that is possible, so that would mean i would have to reach by 8.45am. and there's actually very few parking lots so that would mean we have to reach at 8.30am at least to get a spot. and its peak hours for the roads so we have to leave with a half hour buffer so i guess i have to leave my house at 7am huh dammit.

N*U is an idiot.

i also went back to school earlier on last week to collect my degree audit, graduation gown and convocation tickets. feeling nostalgic, i walked back to canteen 13 for the sheng mien, and to chat with the hot-dog auntie. we caught up on a lot of issues, and she treated me to a chocolate waffle :) i'll really miss her.. boohoo. i hope i get to go back to hall for scrabble training and the like in future.

Bathday

oh and it was my birthday last week, hohoho. i spent the whole day with les <3 we went east coast waraku for lunch (i love waraku, but please don't be curious and try the 'hokkai tororo'- its bad), cheesecake at mac's, and for dinner we made it to the gala premiere of 'The Dark Knight' hosted by Maybank (courtesy of my dad). it was a good day~ =3

and yy and gang celebrated with me at taka by buying me two belts i had my eye on for a long while. (2 years for one of them, 2 weeks for the other). since there was a 20% sale the gifts went under-budget, so i got a treat to pepper-lunch too! :)

and with this~ i need to go to sleep. zzzz. coz of reasons above (note: convocation) i need to get up at 6.30am tmr morning so i need to get as much beauty sleep i can grrr. good night~ photo-day tmr~!

cycle trip of hell

Posted by freebird at 11:22 PM on July 27, 2008.

on sat hl, yy and i met up to go cycling at east coast. there were supposed to be more than the 3 of us, but various mishaps happened due to wrong hp numbers, some members going overseas without a pip and examinations, but, yeah, us three old birds were what was left of the gang this fateful saturday morning.

since we had ample time, small numbers and beautiful weather, we decided to make off  toward changi beach park at full speed. all~the~way.

we almost made it, and one hour of furious paddling later, we stopped 2.34km short of our destination and decided to head back lest we were late to the bike rental shop.

it. was. gruelling. hell.

i guess cycling off towards an unknown location is a lot more enjoyable than the 'return'. the road back seemed endless, and barely a third of the way back i felt like the grim reaper had his hands around my neck. my legs were numb, my face was almost sunk into my handles, and i was pushing forth with only LUNCH and $6 FOR AN EXTRA HOUR in pounding in my mind.

it felt like if i stopped for a breather i could never start again. becoz my feet wouldn't have the power to push the bike off the ground.

we cycled and joked about lunch and how our stomaches were folding upon themselves and how we'll be crawling to the benches when we get our rumps off the bicycle seat. we were two ducks and one ravenous racoon making our way slowly to parkway, and our knees were buckling as we walked down the underpass.

i.. had.. never... broken a sweat before... EVER... cycling.

i guess this is a whole new experience, or proof that i'm really regressing... boo hoo hoo.

at night, just before bedtime, my legs were aching horribly. i went to bed extremely worried, and very not looking forward to the next day and the muscle pains that would follow. surprisingly enough, there were none~! yay~!

and so i went on the long trek from telok blangah to alexandra via the newly constructed watchacallit treetop walk/henderson wave/forest trek thingy with my parents. its fun. i'll be trying to organize another outing there~ hohoho. three hour trek with sandwiches and bentoes~
