First announcement of the day~!
Seems like I'm finally off the manga and internet-addiction. Yay, banzai~! I'm one more step towards being a wholesome and productive human being!
that doesn't mean that i don't read manga and i don't surf the net any more. its more like i don't park myself in the chair for hours on end clicking clicking clicking through boring chapters and going on downloading sprees just because i'm COMPELLED to do it.
and the reason is that i got hooked on TWILIGHT.
the horrible thing about twilight is that it really isn't that great a book. most of the characters aren't really fleshed out that well (or maybe i am too used to the jap manga style), the writing style came across as a little amateurish for the first book, and i felt a very nagging dislike for Mr. Edward Cullen, in part because my expectations were overly high after reading about how fans were going gaga over him, and also largely because i really hate over-protectionistic and angsty boyfriends. i'll take my Les over him any time.
but i was hooked on it.
i can throw the first book and the first half of the second book into the bottom of a box of used books and let them collect dust, but the plot twisted along fantastically from then on, and i just found myself entwined within the story and wondering just what Meyers had in store for her characters next.
It became so bad that i was reading until 2am everyday after work, and the only thing I could think of at work was 'i want to go home, i want to go home, i want to go home AND READ' (and now when i'm sitting in front of the computer i'm REREADING it)
and it had my favorite kind of ending, which leaves a nice fuzzy feeling in my heart. :)
so of course i watched the movie.
i felt the movie actually flowed along way more logically and fluidly then the novel did, which is a first for a novel-adapted movie. that leaves a lot to be said for the novel LOL.
but what i really want to say about the movie is... Kristen Stewart is really beautiful. Wow, its like the minute she enters the screen everyone else pales beside her in comparison and fades away. Which is not supposed to be, as according to the novel she's supposed to be this plain looking girl, but i don't really give a damn coz she's BEAUTIFUL, and beautiful people can get away with anything in my books.
Well, after that i went ahead and did a search on her, but somehow very few of the online photos captured her just the way the movie did and just the way i remembered it. and it was really difficult finding good photos of her without that annoying vamp with the overly bony and straight nose in it. i won't want anyone to switch on my desktop, look at my wallpaper and think i'm a Pattinson fan.
(i kind of hold a vengeance against Pattinson. first there was cedric diggory which i was really looking forward to seeing cast in real time, and now Edward. give me back my dreams and anticipation man.)
all right, that sounded mean. in the Christmas spirit of things, let's stop the rant here and rant about christmas~!
in the office christmas eve the boss bought red wine and poured drinks for everybody.
as a result of our christmas gift exchange i now have 3 doraemons nodding away on my desk, and the vietnamese intern has a very cute vibrating pillow that is named after me
in the wee twilight morning of christmas i was
playing mahjong with yy, hl and yt until 5am in the morning. twice i
had too many tiles to game. i was really stoned.
and i spent the whole day shopping with les today~! Best christmas ever <3
Merry Christmas~
